Mary Kay can recall many first visits with patients who “are in tears because they are so miserable.” Board certified in emergency medicine, Mary Kay has been making waves (and making people feel much better through her work in age management medicine and bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Often associated with the treatment of menopausal women, hormone replacement therapy can actually be used to treat a diverse group of people.
Mary Kay’s patients range in age from 14 to 83; half of her patients are male, some suffering from andropause (the male version of menopause). Mary Kay discourages the association of her practice with the phrase “anti-aging” and instead defines it as “wellness and preventative medicine.” When asked to clarify the purpose of her work, Mary Kay says, ” Age management medicine is not designed to make people live forever – it is about quality of life.”
